The Name

Maya is a term used in the Philippines to refer to a bird that belongs to the munia species. This bird used to be the national bird of the country but was "dethroned" by the mighty Philippine eagle in 1995. Known for its tiny stature, the maya has been perceived as a representation of humility and resilience, two of the many qualities that define the Filipino heart. I purposely wanted the name to sound alliterative, so I chose the word maiden to go with maya. Apart from fulfilling that said objective, I've realized that maiden can also represent women as both the target audience and creators of most of the products you'll find here.
